Director, Global Medical Communications

A clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on advancing novel therapies for solid tumors is seeking an experienced Director of Global Medical Communications to lead publication strategy and execution for its oncology portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Clinical & Medical Affairs, this leader will drive the development of clear, consistent, and scientifically rigorous communications that support the company’s clinical and medical objectives.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented communications professional who thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment and brings both strategic perspective and hands-on execution to scientific storytelling and publication management.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead global publication strategy and tactical execution for assigned oncology assets, including abstracts, posters, manuscripts, oral presentations, and related scientific communications.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and senior leadership to define core scientific messages and ensure consistency across all external and internal communications.
  • Serve as the publications lead on cross-functional teams, collaborating with Clinical, Regulatory, Commercial, and Medical colleagues to align timelines, data strategy, and content accuracy.
  • Develop and manage publication workflows, authorship alignment, and review processes (e.g., MLR), ensuring compliance with ICMJE, GPP, and company standards.
  • Create and maintain publication plans, tracking deliverables, priorities, and progress across global teams using established internal systems.
  • Provide scientific and editorial oversight of all deliverables to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Manage internal writers and external vendors to deliver high-quality, timely, and cost-effective outputs.
  • Partner with Clinical and Finance functions to forecast resource needs, manage publication budgets, and allocate internal and external support effectively.
  • Anticipate and resolve publication-related challenges while maintaining alignment with cross-functional strategies.
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs on scientific materials such as slide decks, congress materials, and MSL resources.
  • Engage with investigators and external authors to align on data interpretation, authorship expectations, and congress strategy.
  • Ensure compliant documentation and tracking of publication activities in accordance with applicable policies and industry guidelines.
